"Saratoga SUP Yoga"
Why SUP Yoga?
Stand up paddle board yoga, or SUP Yoga, has the profound ability to shift your perspective into beautiful blue waters creating a sense of relaxation and ease. SUP YOGA also has the ability to invite a sense of challenge you may have never felt before! Think: core!
SUP Yoga is designed for all yoga levels and we believe that it is a perfect opportunity to try something NEW this summer. Katie recommends that you have some yoga experience (aka you know what down dog is) in order to feel comfortable floating through the sequences. No fear though! She will lead you into many comfortable positions and modifications that are stand up paddleboard specific. SUP yoga is taught at a very slow pace- perfect for beginner and advanced yogis alike.
Do I have to know how to paddle board?
No. We will lead you through basic stand up paddleboard techniques in order to feel safe and comfortable when we paddle to our floating studio. You will always have the option to stay on your knees if that is most comfortable for you! Private paddleboard lessons are available by appointment as well!
What should I wear/bring?
We recommend layering clothes especially if we start early and the temperatures are planned to rise by the end of class. BOGAYOGA paddleboards are unique because they have a tie down system that allows you to store your extra t-shirt/ jacket if needed. Many SUP yogis prefer wearing their normal water wicking yoga gear. However, on hot days or if you plan on falling in, swimsuits are great too. Please make sure you are comfortable doing yoga postures in whatever you decide to wear! Please do not bring anything valuable when you arrive. You will have a place to store car keys but everything else should be locked in your car. You may wear sunglasses but please be mindful that if your body goes upside down so too will the sunglasses!
What if it’s raining/thunder storming?
Generally, we won’t cancel if there is just a light sprinkle. However, if the temperature drops significantly and there is rain and heavy wind, we may cancel and you will be credited to a different class. We want your first time trying SUPYOGA at 550 Marina to be the best one yet! Therefore, we will cancel if we believe the class will feel uncomfortable in certain weather situations. Any thunder/lightening on the horizon we will cancel for your safety.
All cancelations due to weather will be posted on our Facebook page as well as Katie’s. Please be sure to follow both for details on classes, upcoming events, and more SUPOGA information and inspiration!
All paddle equipment including board, paddle and life vest is included when you sign up for class. If you have any further questions about any of the above topics please do not hesitate to contact me using either links below.
